Augustiner Maximator

Oh boy! Ive been searching for this one for a while and finally Father Christmas delivered. Ive tried a small handful of the Munich Breweries dopplebocks but the Augustiner's offering has evaded me until now. Research has shown that this beer is big, sticky, fruity and high in alcohol. (via Ratebeer.com) this is true . FRom pouring the beer into the glass a huge head appears, though not according to other reviews, probably poured it incorrectly . The taste echoes a huge amount of alcohol , a sweet edge of raisins, plums, red berries , but this is heavily overwhelmed with the alcohol. The colour of the beer is very deep plum, with a very gentle carbonation, to the point where looking at the glass there is not much at all. THe ABV of this is 7.5% and it certainly lives up to this, though with most German Dopplebock the alcohol is very slow releasing, it creeps up on you, slowly, slowly, then suddenly boom! I could easily drink two or three of these, but its a beer that you need to savour, to sip, to slowly consume and enjoy. It's a truly butch beer and you could easily substitute this for food. Germans have always said that beer is liquid bread and this is so true! I highly recommend this, Ive waited a long time to try this and its certainly been worth the wait. THis is great , seriously great :D
