I have sourced out a little German Helles gem in the Benediktiner Hell. This one rolls in at 5% and is from the Benediktiner Brewery in Ettal , south Bavaria. The helles is another fine example of a clean, crisp, light , fresh German Lager. The aroma of the beer has a hint of hops, a touch of caramel for sweetness and a very subtle brush of alcohol. There is a good amount of carbonation which rolls elegantly up the glass. The taste is again very clean and smooth, fizzes on the tongue and is very satisfying. There is no hint of alcohol on the palate, even though it clearly evident on the nose. This is a beer that has been brewed well and the disguise of the alcohol is noticeable. The hops in the taste are brought forward clearly and they compliment the sweetness of the caramel aroma extremely well. A beer that is very. very drinkable.
