Erdinger Urweisse

With all my initial reviews that Ive made I have gone for clean and crisp Helles lagers, a very good style which I hugely recommend . Here today however I will be trying another style, which is so very German, the Weissbier. Erdinger's Urweisse comes in at a mere 4.9% and from the moment you pour the beer into the glass, a huge slightly off white head forms. There is clear and obvious rolling carbonation up the sides of the glass. Its a typical view of Bavaria, a place I absolutely love. Some bottled Weissbiers can be bottled fermented, this one isnt unfortunately , which is no bad thing. The aroma has a very strong and distinctive yeasty edge, giving way to hints of cloves and banana. The colour of the beer in the glass is a cloudy off yellow, auburn shade. Almost Marmalade Orange. The taste is so very yeasty, ultimately refreshing and cool. (I always chill my beers to about 6c , more or less. ) Such a lovely clean tasting beer Urweisse, one of a range of excellent Weissbiers from Erdinger brewery.
